Oscar Valdez joined the County of Los Angeles Department of Auditor-Controller in July 2020, as the Chief Deputy Auditor-Controller, after serving as Assistant County Auditor-Controller in Riverside County.

Mr. Valdez’s experience includes planning and performing financial and compliance audits for a variety of areas, such as Colleges, School Districts K-12, and Non-Profit Organizations. He also served as the Assistant Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector and later Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector in San Bernardino County. He was responsible for the management and oversight of the Auditor, Controller, Disbursements, and Treasurer division for the County of San Bernardino. Mr. Valdez was also appointed Ex-Officio member on the San Bernardino County Employees’ Retirement Association (SBCERA) Board of Retirement.

Mr. Valdez is a graduate of California State University, San Bernardino, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. He has over 25 years of accounting, auditing, budgeting, finance, and management experience.

Mr. Valdez proudly served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the 782nd Maintenance Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, and with the 758th Maintenance Company, attached to the 18th Airborne Corps in Operation Desert Storm.
