BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST (Accounting Systems Analyst) Job Description

The Accounting Systems Analyst positions in the Auditor-Controller provide business and technical support for some of the largest Information Technology (IT) systems in County government.  They are also developers and/or implementers of innovative technical solutions to create business and information delivery efficiencies within the Department and throughout the County.  The Accounting Systems Analyst bridges IT and business with a diverse combination of business, technical, and communication skillsets for these functions:

  • Maintain County Enterprise and large-scale department applications in partnership with other County technology support teams
  • Assess and apply new technology to resolve a business problem; design, develop, test, and implement effective business solutions
  • Provide customers in County Departments outreach, application, and training support

Business Systems Analyst candidates have opportunities in the following two divisions:

Enterprise Systems

EMERGENT TECHNOLOGY GROUP

The Emergent Technology Group provides analytical and technical support for the development, acquisition, and implementation of automated systems that support County enterprise and Auditor-Controller core business functions. The Division also provides communications, reporting, outreach and change management support to County departments.

Systems Operations

SYSTEMS OPERATIONS DIVISION

The Systems Operations Division provides analytical and technical support for the development and maintenance of automated systems that support core business functions of the Auditor-Controller, including the Countywide Employee Payroll and Human Resources functions, Accounting and Financial services, and Property Tax maintenance. The Division also supports the ongoing operation, as well as the enhancement of major automated systems.

Excellent benefits package includes a benefit allowance of $1,300* cash added to your monthly paycheck to purchase medical, dental, and other insurance coverage; a Contributory Defined Benefit Retirement Plan ("Pension"); and a 401(k) and 457 (similar to a 401(k)) deferred income plans that are each matched dollar-for-dollar up to 4% for up to a combined total of 8% of your salary. Employees also receive 10 days of paid leave, can use their benefits package to add up to 20 additional leave days per year, and receive 13 paid holidays per year.

Bonus Pay:
5.6% salary increase for employees who possess a valid CPA, CIA, or CISA.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS (Minimum Requirements):

A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university WITH:
  • 21 semester units or 32 quarter units of information systems classes; OR
  • A combination of information systems and accounting classes totaling 21 semester or 32 quarter units, of which at least 18 semester units or 24 quarter units are information systems classes.
