Namita Patel is the Division Chief of Disbursements Division. Ms. Patel has over 26 years of progressive management and administrative experience, all of which have been within the Department of Auditor-Controller. Ms. Patel is responsible for managing disbursements of countywide payments and provides guidance and training to County departments to ensure compliance with applicable County, State, and federal regulations. She also administers various countywide programs, including the Travel Program, Incidental Expense, and Direct Deposit, as well as specific State and Federal tax reporting programs. Ms. Patel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from California State University, Northridge.
Disbursements
The Disbursements Division is responsible for issuing payments on behalf of the entire County through the use of warrants, direct deposits, and electronic fund transfers; establishes Countywide disbursement policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations; maintains centralized disbursement records, including warrant registries, negotiated warrants, and unclaimed checks; educates departments on the proper reporting methods of the sales and use taxes; regulates and monitors the County’s travel policy; acts as a liaison between the County and certified small businesses by assessing and resolving payment policy issues; and keeps current with industry security standards, technology innovations, and crime trends by regularly improving and updating existing payment processes.
