The Auditor-Controller is responsible for the issuance of the payroll to employees of the County of Los Angeles. Over 105,000 employees receive a payment each payday and over 113,000 W-2s are issued for active and out-of-service employees. Additionally, Countywide Payroll is responsible for implementing pay practices negotiated with bargaining units, withhold both mandatory and voluntary deductions, and withhold earnings payable to various creditors and agencies for garnishments, Federal and State tax levies and child support. These and many other tasks are accomplished through the use of two application systems: the Countywide Timekeeping and Payroll Personnel System (CWTAPPS) and the Countywide Payroll System (CWPAY).
On the April 30, 2010 payday, the County transitioned to a new payroll system. It is very important that employees read all related information to learn more about the changes impacting their pay, deductions, and benefits.
